“The DeJoria Center project is one of those unforgettable projects. We experienced many challenges but were fortunate to have a great team of owners, designers and contractors that helped navigate those challenges. The end result is something I’m really proud of. Thanks to ENR for recognizing this outstanding project,” said Dan Mickelson, senior project manager for Layton Construction. “Layton Construction, and I personally am looking forward to a continued relationship with High Star Ranch and the community of Kamas, Utah.”

Designed by Brighton Architectural Group, the new 25,000-square-foot venue showcases the panoramic mountain views with floor-to-ceiling windows, and intricate interior stone work, steel and lighting elements that combine modern and rustic styles to create a unique mountain ambiance.

The new venue is High Star Ranch’s crown jewel – an ultramodern theater, and multi-use convention hall with cutting-edge lighting and sound technology that can seat 1,400 guests. DeJoria Center is home to State Road Tavern restaurant and Bar Josephine that’s open to the public. The restaurant also has an expansive wrap-around deck with views of the entire valley and mountain skyline.

The world-class concert, corporate and special event facility is the only large, upscale entertainment and events center in the Wasatch Mountains. Nestled against the scenic mountains in Kamas, Utah, the venue offers year-round activities on the 1,100 acre natural conservancy area.

“It’s truly an honor to have DeJoria Center recognized by ENR and the broader architectural community,” said Tracy Mullen, director of sales and marketing for DeJoria Center. “Both Layton Construction and Brighton Architectural Group went above and beyond what we were hoping for in a fully customizable theater and event space.”

ENR’s 2016 Best Projects competition in the Mountain States featured nearly 100 entries. Projects were judged on overall design and construction quality, innovation, and contribution to the community and the industry. The regional competition included projects from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
