There’s always something to do in Park City and Summit County. The hardest part is deciding what to do. Here’s a quick round-up of some of our favorite annual and ongoing events in the area.
Annual Events in Summit County
Sundance Film Festival
Every January, Hollywood paints the town black with the world’s foremost independent film festival founded by Robert Redford. The event has grown large enough that screenings are held at venues in Park City and Salt Lake City for 10 days.
Savor the Summit
This annual summer food and wine event bring together international and local chefs, celebrities, bartenders, and sommeliers in Park City. It’s a great way to explore Main Street while enjoying local cuisine from a variety of local restaurants.
Tour of Utah
Cycling across the state, professional bicyclists race Utah in one of the country’s most competitive races. The tour goes through Park City each year, allowing visitors to see cycling up close.
Freestyle World Championships
It’s not just bicyclists who train and compete in Park City. The Freestyle World Championships—featuring Olympic and professional skiers from around the world—are also held in Summit County. Typically, this event is hosted by Deer Valley Resort near Park City.
Soldier Hollow Classic: Sheepdog Championship & Festival
Soldier Hollow is a great place to go tubing in the winter. But in the summer, the area opens up to the world’s foremost sheepdog festival. Watch as dogs from around the world compete to see who is the best sheepdog. This family-friendly event is a great way to attend a unique event and see well-trained pups perform remarkable feats.
Summit County Fair
Each year, the town of Coalville hosts the Summit County Fair. This weeklong event is a celebration of the new and old west. It includes a demolition derby, professional rodeo, 4-H competitions, and livestock sales. Not to mention art and craft vendors, food and drinks, a fireworks show, and a carnival too.
